Use It Or Loose It for Health
You may be familiar with the old adage, “use it or loose it”. This applies to every cell in your body. If you suffer from back pain, headaches, joint pain, immune disorders, asthma or whatever, exercise (movement) will be beneficial to you.
If you had an expensive sports car sitting for a long time in the garage, it would get all gummed up and the battery would die. When you went to use the car, you would be extremely disappointed. Why would we think different of our body?
In our office, we promote E exercise as a way to use our body and stimulate the quickest and most powerful nerves in the body. The key to exercise is to make it fun and exciting. No exercise program stays fun for a long time. You have to change.
Some simple ideas to follow when exercising:
Work is not exercise: Work is just that, work. You can’t substitute your normal working day for exercise. Your body has adapted to your work and that is not the physical stimulant it once was.Vary up the program: When you change your exercise program, you change the areas you are working on. You can do weights one day, aerobics another, yoga a different day and so on and so on.
Use weights: Weights add resistance to your exercise program. If you are over the age of 30, the use of resistive movement stimulates bone strength. Your bones love a challenge. Teenagers should avoid heavy weights and use their own body weight as resistance. The use of weights does not have to be overwhelming, make it a challenge, but please don’t hurt yourself.
Move: Movement stimulates nerve receptors in the joints that feed your brain. Your brain truly loves it when you move. You don’t have to move so far it hurts, go to your limit and then back off for further reps.
Remember what exercise is for: You will see numerous articles, sites and commercials selling you the latest and greatest. Exercise stimulates your body to heal. Use it as a tool to do that, not to loose unwanted weight (you need to DREAM the pounds away).
We could go on and on about exercise, so keep up with our Healthy Thots for more tips.
