If you suffer from:
- Balance Problems
- Everything else
Functional neurology may be able to help you.
Chances are, you are reading this because you have a problem that no one has been able to help you with. If they had, you wouldn't be reading this. So, open your mind and move forward.
I already went to a Neurologist, what's the difference?
When you have a serious disease, trauma or stroke. A neurologist will save your life. They are awesome at it. We will refer you to them if we see that your life is being threatened.
I like to think of them as fire fighters. When your house is on fire, they come in with their axe and fire hose and put the fire out. Saving your life.
However, after the fire is put out, the house needs to be re-built. You wouldn't have a fire fighter come in with the same axe and hose to fix the house. That just doesn't make sense. You would hire a carpenter to repair the damage from the fire, axe and water damage.
Think of functional neurology as the carpenter who rebuilds the damaged nervous system. We do not use dangerous drugs or surgery.
Functional neurology is based on something called "neuroplasticity". Just 20 years ago, scientists and doctors thought that the brain did not heal. With advances in microscopes, MRI's and other systems it was discovered that the brain does in fact heal. When the brain heals and adapts to stresses this is called neuroplasticit;y.
What this means is that your brain wants to heal. When the brain heals, your body works better and you feel better. Now you can start living your life again.
What does a Functional Neurologist do?
As a Chiropractic Functional Neurologist, I do a thorough examination of your nervous system to discover areas of your body and brain that aren't working properly. I guarantee this will be one of the most extensive exams you experience.
In our office, we will also test your primitive reflexes. These are simple tasks that you should have developed as a child. Sometimes, the primitive reflexes are not developed or lost due to a trauma or car accident. If the primitive part of your brain isn't working well How can higher brain function be good? Here in lies the missing link. I have seen this a lot in kids with ADHD.
Afterwards it is time to come up with a game plan that will stimulate the problem areas. Often times, we will use the same tool that discovered the problem to work on the problem.
For instance, we use something called OptoKinetic Tape (OPK Tape) to measure and work on 3 areas of your brain. You simply watch the different squares as I slowly wave them past your face. This works on the frontal lobe, parietal lobe and cerebellum. If we use the OPK Tape and go up and down, this then works the brain stem and helps people who suffer from tremors (shaking hands and feet)
Here are some other things that we do...
- Vibration Platform Neurological Stimulation
- Peripheral Nerve Rehabilitative Therapy
- Infrared Diode Therapy
- Pulsed Magnetic Frequency Therapy
- Frontal Lobe Activities
- Parietal Lobe Activities
- Temporal Lobe Activities
- Occipital Lobe Activities
- Cerebellum Activities
- Brain Stem Stimulation Activities
- Primitive Reflex Integration
- much more.
Most patients think that the therapies are "funny". Yet when they perform them the results are often instantaneous. Sometimes they even ask for the long explanation as to how the activity works. We work to explain the activity as simple as possible. I have found that the more you understand, the more likely you will perform the activity. Your brain loves it and so will you.
Depending on the person, we can also give you activities to do at home. Simple things that may take a couple of minutes a day.
Since your brain controls everything in your body, functional neurology works to improve brain function. You feel better, look at the world with a smile and begin living an awesome life.
You may have a serious neurological problem. We deal in complex neurological cases. You are going to have to invest in your self to get this problem corrected.
